Hezi: A Spa Design Inspired by Greek Island Aesthetics

E.D.S.T. Transforms Spa Experience with Nature-Inspired Design

The design concept of Hezi revolves around the idea of "slow life". It is a unique approach to spa design, focusing on creating a vacation-like feeling that is close to nature. The design is environment-friendly and aims to comfort the tired hearts of city dwellers with its simple design and romantic environment.

Hezi stands out with its use of stone arches, a significant feature of stone buildings. The design incorporates the island's broad-leaved trees and the waves to expand the shape of the arch, turning it into a continuous cross arch construction. Materials such as frosted paint, broken-marble stone, and terrazzo are used to simulate coastal sandstone, creating a sense of scene of overlooking the coast through arched windows.

The spa project covers an area of 1100 square meters, with a total of 29 tuina rooms that can accommodate 80 people at the same time. The use of pure white material as the spatial keynote ensures that visitors are not disturbed by too much information when entering the space. The sense of mystery brought about by the cultural differences of the vault and the rough feeling of the soft accessories provide an immersive experience of the original materials in the mysterious space.

The project was launched in August 2019, completed in December 2019, and started to operate in Changzhou, China. The design process involved extensive research on the stone buildings on the island, including looking up network data, taking material samples, and observing the industry status of similar industries. The most challenging part of the design process was the selection of materials, which were finalized after a long-term selection and multiple rounds of samples.

Hezi has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The design of Hezi is admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
